The one-of-a-kind, interactive Ocean Farm Design Tool generates key information, including gear lists and budgets, to help early-stage ocean farmers get a head start on designing a farm and permitting

The Community connects a national network of aspiring and active farmers and hatchery techs with new growers to answer technical questions and propel the emerging industry forward. Additionally, the Farmer Forum offers monthly webinars and opportunities for in-person meetups and on-farm demos
Kelp Climate Fund
The Kelp Climate Fund is a subsidy that provides direct payments to farmers for the climate-positive role of their ocean farms.

GreenWave’s Kelp Climate Fund pays farmers for the climate benefits of their farms, including blue carbon, nitrogen removal, and reef restoration. The $335,000 fund pays $1 per foot of kelp planted, up to $25,000 per farm. By 2025, we intend to grow the pool of funding to $1 million for farmers, catalyzing the production of 10 million lbs of kelp annually.

KCF farmers use GreenWave’s My Kelp app to measure and track crop yields and the environmental benefits of their farms. GreenWave aggregates this data to track climate and reef restoration impact across North America, and growers can use the data to demonstrate the climate impact to build community buy-in for their farms

To ensure demand grows as farmers scale, our team partners with value-added processors, wholesalers, and retailers to identify and overcome market barriers for local farmers.

Our direct buyer engagement and digital platform opens new sales channels for small and medium-scale farmers and facilitates forward contracting between growers and buyers. Learn More →

We work with farmers and companies to tackle supply chain challenges, develop sourcing standards, and pilot farmer-owned processing infrastructure.

Leveraging GreenWave’s Ocean Farming Hub, we host trainings on topics ranging from co-op formation and financial modeling to co-packing strategies and quality control.
Farmer Infrastructure
Leveraging our commercial-scale kelp farm and hatchery, we develop solutions and best practices for consistent production, cost-effectiveness, and replication across the supply chain.
